“HE WAS SOMETHING TO SEE
----MOP OF BROWN HAIR, FLOPPY SOCKS -----THE
MOST HOLY TERROR OF THE BASKETBALL WORLD
---HIGH FLYIN’ ---MAGICIAN OF THE COURT……HE
COULD HAVE PLAYED BLIND.”
Bob Dylan, from the
first volume of his autobiography, Chronicles.

Pistol Pete, an NCAA player of the year,
college basketball’s all time leading scorer
with 3667 points, a record never to be broken.
A remarkable scoring average of 44.2 points
per game was accomplished before the three
point play existed.
An icon of his age, the
gangly boy wizard’s awe inspiring moves
raised the game of basketball to a level
of artistry, all the while enhancing legions
of fans.
A virtuoso of the game,
his high concept showmanship anticipated
the future of basketball. Pete Maravich
graced the basketball court unlike anyone
before or since.
To watch Pete Maravich on the court was
to witness something almost supernatural,
to observe sports history in the making.
This show focuses on his
brilliant college career as expertly described
by Mark Kriegel, the author of Pistol:
The Life of Pete Maravich. Kriegel,
the best selling biographer of Joe Namath,
paints a brilliant and complex portrait
of the man behind the legend and the era
that embraced him.
As a bonus there is additional
rare footage of the second half of the Kentucky
vs LSU game played on February 21, 1970.
This was Pistol Pete’s last home game at
LSU during which he completed his home career
with an amazing 64 point performance against
the nationally ranked Wildcats. This Saturday
afternoon nationally telecast game rocketed
the Pistol into the national consciousness.
